Tangled! Tangled! Tangled!

Exhausted this week, not because of work though. I got lazy with managing my time, which I ended up with 5-6hrs of sleep. I got super tired all day most of this week. I used up all my left over energy to this Monday's Toons on Tap Tangled theme, which I've been waiting for for two weeks.

Tangled has a special meaning for me, I really had a wonderful time in this session.
The cosplayers, Tamar and Kyle, look very much like the characters!! (especially Flynn).  They are so great on doing the gestures from the animation again. (They should have their own DA account, sorry that I couldn't find it in the moment)

Buskerfest and first ipad drawing

Gesture sessions from TSA. I prefer models who can pose with meaning. The male model is great for body structure/muscle studies, but he doesn't fit with my purpose of gesture drawings.
These drawings range from 30sec to 5min.

Toronto Buskerfest 2012 is on my way to work, I stayed there for a bit.  Mainly drawing people playing hula hoop.
After getting my ipad for almost a year, I finally started to draw with it.  I was drawing with fingers before getting a Wacom Bamboo stylus.  They both feel weird (but adjustable), though I still like pencil and paper, but ipad is very convenient.  (Since I carried it with me most of the time for reading)

gestures and back to anime-style

It has been a stressful week at work. My computer at work is super slow that even a 2sec quick time file lags!!! (I already closed all the other extra programs.) I blamed it on the heavy rig. Everything runs a lot better after we FINALLY have a low-rez rig for one of the character.

Life drawing is definitely my meditation, my way to relax after a tough week of work. Last week's gesture session @ TSA.

Last Monday's Toons of Tap: Pinkie Pie.
I couldn't get the proportion to look right at the beginning. Maybe because of her super pink costume, I ended up doing a more anime chibi style. I haven't draw anime style for 2-3 years now, it's cool to go back to it once in a while.
Though I couldn't keep up with the latest manga/anime lately due to work, but I'm still obsessed with both the Western animation (movies) and the Japanese anime. Even more and more European animations are getting exposures, their long fine art history background really give a great touch to their art direction in the films.

I was going through facebook and found this open gesture session at TSA. I LOVE IT!!! they are all 30sec and 1-5 minutes only.

The model even posed sequential movement with a story, which is perfect for animators. Too bad this session only runs in August (for now), I'm really hoping this can become a long-term thing in the future. I highly recommend any animators in Toronto to go.

This is not posted on the TSA website, but here is the info
Open Gesture Session @ Toronto School of Arts
